CINCINNATI (AP) - Cheikh Mbodj came off the bench to lead a balanced Cincinnati scoring attack with a career-high 12 points as the Bearcats pulled away from Miami (Ohio) for a 56-47 win Tuesday night.
Mbodj, a junior college transfer playing just his third Division I game, scored five straight points in the final three minutes to help Cincinnati (4-2) increase a 49-47 lead.
Dion Dixon, Sean Kilpatrick and Yancy Gates each scored 10 points for the Bearcats. Gates added 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and 16th of his career.
Senior Julian Mavunga recorded his third double-double of the season and 17th of his career for Miami (2-3), leading both teams with 26 points and 12 rebounds. After opening the season with a win over Dayton, the RedHawks have lost three of their last four games and 13 straight in their series with Cincinnati.
