PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) - Casey Walker scored a season-high 21 points and Marques Oliver had 18 points and 11 rebounds as Delaware State defeated Maryland-Eastern Shore 78-68 Saturday in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Jay Threatt had 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists and Walker also had seven rebounds for the Hornets (4-3), who shot 52 percent (13 of 25) in the second half after trailing 35-31 at halftime. Tyshawn Bell added 13 points for Delaware State, including 3 of 5 on 3-pointers.
Kendall Gray blocked six shots for the Hornets. He has 26 blocks in the last five games.
Oliver scored five points in a 7-0 run that gave Delaware State a 70-60 lead with 1:28 remaining.
Hillary Haley scored 22 points and grabbed 12 rebounds and Louis Bell scored 17 points to lead the Hawks (2-8), whose win over Navy on Wednesday had snapped a six-game skid.
