COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Kevin Murphy scored 23 points and Tennessee Tech defeated East Tennessee State 83-74 on Wednesday night.
Leading 37-29 at halftime, the Golden Eagles opened the second half with a 14-2 run to lead by 20 points. Tennessee Tech kept the lead in double digits until the final 25 seconds of the game. Jud Dillard scored 14 points and Dennis Ogbe added 11 for the Golden Eagles (4-4), who snapped a six-game losing streak against the Buccaneers.
Hot shooting kept Tennessee Tech in control throughout the game. The Golden Eagles made 55.1 percent (27 of 49) of their field goal attempts and were 9 of 18 from 3-point range. Murphy led the way, making 10 of 13 shots.
Isiah Brown and Sheldon Cooley each scored 12 points for the Buccaneers (3-5), who have lost four in a row. Tommy Hubbard and Marcus Dubose added 10 apiece for East Tennessee State.
