WASHINGTON (AP) - Dylon Cormier scored 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds - both career highs - and Loyola (Md.) held off a late George Washington rally for a 65-55 win on Wednesday night.

Erik Etherly added 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Greyhounds (7-1), who extended their winning streak to seven games while handing George Washington (4-4) its third straight loss.

With the Greyhounds leading 39-29 early in the second half, Cormier hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key to ignite a 10-0 run that put the Greyhounds up by 20. The Colonials eventually rallied and David Pellom's dunk cut the Loyola lead to 52-44 with 5:18 to play.

But Loyola's Shane Walker scored after an offensive rebound and Cormier followed with a layup to push the Greyhound lead to 12 and the Colonials got no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

Pellom, a reserve, led the Colonials with a career-high 19 points and Lasan Kromah added 11. Tony Taylor, who entered the game averaging 15.3 points per game, finished with six.

Trailing by two points with less than seven minutes left in the first half, the Greyhounds went on a 17-0 run led by Drummond (seven points) and Cormier (six). George Washington later scored the final five points of the half to cut the deficit to 10 at intermission.

The Greyhounds outrebounded the Colonials 21-9 in the half and George Washington made just 8 of 22 shots.

Loyola coach Jimmy Patsos gained a 3-2 edge against George Washington's Mike Lonergan, his former Catholic University teammate. The previous games occurred while Lonergan was at Vermont. Each also served as an assistant to Gary Williams at Maryland and the former Terrapins coach was courtside Wednesday night.
