HAMILTON, NY (AP) - Mitch Rolls scored 15 points and Sterling Melville added 14 to help Colgate hold off St. Francis (N.Y.) 65-63 on Saturday.
Rolls went 6-of-6 from the free throw line and Melville scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half in a game that saw eight ties and nine lead changes.
Colgate (4-5) took a 58-54 lead behind a Melville 3-pointer but St. Francis (2-6) rallied and took a 61-60 lead with 2:29 to play. However, Yaw Gyawu recorded a steal and a fastbreak layup on the next possession to put the Raiders ahead 62-61. Rolls' jumper with 1:28 left pushed the lead to 64-61.
St. Francis' final rally attempt fell short as Brent Jones missed a layup to tie the game as time expired.
Gyawu finished with 14 for Colgate. Akeem Johnson led St. Francis with 18 points.
The Terriers only attempted six free throws in the loss.
