LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - Jesse Sanders scored a game-high 22 points and teammate John Caleb Sanders added 14 as Liberty earned a 74-65 victory over Hampton Saturday night in a nonconference game.
The Flames (4-8) opened up a 10-point lead midway through the first half on a jumper by Jesse Sanders, who hit a pair of 3-pointers on the night. John Caleb Sanders also sank two 3-point baskets as Liberty led 34-27 at halftime.
The Flames still led by 10 points midway through the second half and a basket by Antwan Burrus keeping them in front 53-43. Hampton (4-7) closed within 68-60 but Liberty closed out the game comfortably.
David Bruce led Hampton with 20 points and just missed a double-double with nine rebounds. Mike Tuitt came off the bench to score 14 points, but that couldn't prevent Hampton's third straight loss.
For Liberty, Tavares Speaks and Burrus each added 12.
