BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Julian Boyd scored 29 points and grabbed 17 rebounds as Long Island beat St. Peter's 82-80 on Saturday.
St. Peter's (2-7) took a 21-19 lead with 6:21 left in the first half before Boyd rattled off six straight points to reclaim the lead for Long Island. The Blackbirds finished the half on a 17-4 run to take a 36-25 lead into halftime.
Long Island (6-6) opened the second half with a 16-7 run to expand their lead to 20, 52-32, with 14:52 left to play.
St. Peter's committed 20 fouls, compared to just seven for Long Island, sending the Blackbirds to the line 24 times. Long Island converted 19 of those attempts.
The Peacocks used a 41-17 run over the final 10:39 to pull within four, 80-76, but couldn't complete the comeback.
Boyd hit career-highs in free throw attempts (17), free throws made (14), and rebounds.
