Arkansas-Pine Bluff vs Cincinnati

Cincinnati 101, Ark.-Pine Bluff 53

CINCINNATI (AP) - JaQuon Parker scored a career-high 17 points as the suddenly explosive Cincinnati Bearcats extended their winning streak to three games with a 101-53 romp over mistake-prone Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday night.

Cashmere Wright led both teams with 20 points, 17 in the first half, while Dion Dixon added 16 and Sean Kilpatrick 12 for the Bearcats (8-3), who posted their widest winning margin in Mick Cronin's six seasons as coach. Their previous widest margin was a 45-point win over Georgia Southern on Dec. 14, 2010.

Freshman Jeremiah Davis III also set a career high with 13 points as Cincinnati reached 100 points in consecutive games for the first time since the second and third games of the 1976-197 season. The Bearcats scored 101 against Radford on Saturday.

Parker's previous career high was 15 against South Florida on Jan. 20, 2010.

Wright finished with a career-high six 3-pointers, one more than the five he made against Utah Valley on Dec. 11, 2010.

Daniel Broughton and Mitchell Anderson scored 12 points apiece to lead the Golden Lions (1-9), who committed 29 turnovers while losing their seventh straight game.

The game drew a crowd of 4,874 to 13,176-seat Fifth Third Arena.

Cincinnati is 3-0 since Yancy Gates, Octavius Ellis and Cheikh Mbodj were suspended for three games each following the brawl with then-No. 8 Xavier on Dec. 10 that prompted officials to stop the game with 9.4 seconds remaining.

Officials issued technical fouls to Cincinnati sophomore Justin Jackson and Arkansas-Pine Bluff senior Savalace Townsend following a brief altercation resulting from Townsend's intentional foul of Dixon with 15:42 left in the first half. The officials viewed television replays of the incident before issuing the technical fouls. Jackson didn't play the rest of the half.

Cincinnati never trailed after Wright sank a 3-pointer to give the Bearcats a 14-13 lead with 14:52 left in the first half.

Wright went 5 for 9 from the field in the first half, all of them 3-pointers, while scoring 17 points and helping Cincinnati open up a 50-29 halftime lead. Kilpatrick added 10 as the Bearcats shot 51.5 percent (17-of-33), including 8 of 16 on 3-pointers.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff, which went into the game averaging 17.7 turnovers per game, committed 17 just in the first half, leading to 18 Bearcats points.
