SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) - Kenneth Ortiz hit a desperation shot as the buzzer sounded to give Wagner a stunning 64-62 victory over Santa Clara in the championship game of the Cable Car Classic on Friday night.
Evan Roquemore, who scored nine of his 17 points in the final 2:03 for Santa Clara (8-5), converted a four-point play with 46 seconds to play to tie the game at 62 and culminate a Broncos comeback from 15 points down.
The Seahawks (10-3) kept the ball the rest of the way, calling time out with less than four seconds remaining. Tyler Murray missed a shot off the inbounds play but Ortiz, who made 2 of 13 shots for the game, was there for the rebound and threw the ball up and in as he fell out of bounds.
After conferring at halfcourt, the officials upheld Ortiz's basket.
