CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - Keaton Cole scored a game-high 22 points to lift Western Carolina to a 67-57 victory over Wofford Saturday in a Big South Conference game.
Cole was 6 for 7 from beyond the 3-point arc. No other teammate hit a 3-pointer, the Catamounts (8-8, 3-1) finishing a collective 6 of 13 from 3-point range. Cole also made all four of his free thows.
Wofford (9-7, 2-2), meanwhile, hit only 8 of 25 3-point attempts.
Cole got help from three teammates who scored in double figures. Trey Sumler tallied 12 points, Harouna Mutombo 11 and Preston Ross chipped in with 10 points.
For Wofford, guards Karl Cochran and Brad Loesing each scored 20 points. But other than Kevin Giltner (8 points), no other Terrier had more than four points.
Western Carolina outscored Wofford 15-7 at the foul line, going 15 for 22 while Wofford hit 7 of only 8 attempts.
