HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Hameed Ali hit a jumper from the left corner with two seconds remaining to give Texas A&M-Corpus Christi a 50-49 victory against Sam Houston State on Saturday night.
Ali's basket culminated a comeback from a 16-point second-half deficit for the Islanders (3-15, 2-4 Southland Conference). Johnathan Jordan scored 14 points and Terence Jones 12 for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Ali had six points.
Steven Werner had 17 points and nine rebounds for the Bearkats (8-11, 2-3), who lead 40-24 after Darius Gatson's 3-pointer with 15:50 remaining. But Sam Houston State could not hold a 32-21 halftime lead thanks in big part to its shooting just 5 for 17 (29.4 percent) from the floor in the second half.
