NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) - Jereal Scott had 27 points and 11 rebounds and Stephen F. Austin swept the season series vs. Texas State with a 71-63 victory Wednesday night.
Scott hit 11 of 12 shots from the field for the Lumberjacks (12-9, 6-2 Southland), who shot 61 percent as a team en route to their third straight victory. Jonathan King added 15 points for Stephen F. Austin.
Texas State (8-13, 1-7), which has lost five straight games, got 20 points from Matt Staff. The Bobcats were outrebounded 39-18, which negated the 27 points they scored off 23 Lumberjack turnovers.
Stephen F. Austin, which needed a 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat Texas State on Jan. 4, put this one away early. The Lumberjacks never trailed, jumping out to an 11-3 lead and later using an 11-0 run to go on top 30-13 with 4:56 left in the first half. Stephen F. Austin led by as many as 21 points in the second half.
