WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Garrett Stutz scored 24 points and pulled down a career-high 15 rebounds, and Wichita State moved into a first-place tie in the Missouri Valley Conference with a 71-66 victory over Indiana State on Saturday night.
Toure Murry added 14 points and Carl Hall had 13 off the bench for the Shockers (20-4, 11-2), who improved to 18-2 in their past 20 games. Wichita State tied No. 13 Creighton, which lost at the buzzer to Northern Iowa earlier Saturday.
Jake Odum led the Sycamores (14-10, 5-8) with 21 points, including four 3-pointers. Indiana State saw its three-game winning streak snapped.
Wichita State took the lead for good on two Hall free throws with 12:15 to play. But the Sycamores stayed within single digits the rest of the way, pulling within 66-62 on an Odum 3-pointer with 45 seconds left. The Shockers made five free throws after that to secure the win.
