WASHINGTON (AP) - Kevin Dukes led four Bethune-Cookman players in double figures with 19 points and the Wildcats defeated Howard 73-67 Monday night.
Bethune-Cookman (11-14, 8-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) shot 54.8 percent for the game (23 of 42) and made 16 of 20 free throws in the second half.
Howard trailed throughout but made it 63-60, on Glenn Andrews' 3-pointer with 1:21 left. The Bison then went 1 of 3 from the field and missed both their free throws, while the Wildcats made all 10 of theirs the rest of the way. Ricky Johnson went 6 of 6 from the line in the last 39 seconds.
Anthony Breeze added 12 points and Adrien Coleman and Javoris Bryant had 11 each for the Wildcats, who were giving up 78.3 points per game over their previous three. They forced 15 Bison turnovers, leading to 21 points.
Andrews led Howard (7-19, 4-9) with 15 points.
