KATY, Texas (AP) - Anthony Miles had 17 points, five assists and five steals as Lamar defeated Stephen F. Austin 55-44 Thursday in the semifinals of the Southland Conference tournament.
The third-seeded Cardinals (22-11) advance to the championship game Saturday against No. 4 seed McNeese State, which upset top-seeded Texas-Arlington 92-72.
Mike James added 14 points for Lamar, while Devon Lamb and Charlie Harper had 10 each.
Second-seeded Stephen F. Austin (20-12), which beat Lamar by 10 points in their only previous meeting this season, got 14 points from Taylor Smith and 11 from Desmond Haymon. Leading scorers Jereal Scott and Antonio Bostic were held to nine and five points, respectively, as the Lumberjacks shot just 30 percent from the floor.
Lamar closed the first half on a 10-2 run to lead 26-19, and scored 12 straight points to go ahead 44-26 with 6:49 left in the game.
