Tennessee vs Massachusetts

Tennessee 83, UMass 69

BAYAMON, Puerto Rico (AP) - Jarnell Stokes had 24 points and 12 rebounds to lift Tennessee to an 83-69 win over UMass in the third-place game of the Puerto Rico Tipoff on Sunday.

Jordan McRae had 12 points and Trae Golden, Skylar McBee and Josh Richardson each had 11 for the Volunteers (3-1), who outrebounded UMass 51-37.

"This was a really good win against a really good opponent," Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin said. "UMass is a well-coached team and I was impressed with their length and athleticism. We did a pretty good job against one of the best point guards in the country (Chaz Williams)."

Stokes was on the all-tournament team with Marcus Smart and Le'Bryan Nash of tournament champion Oklahoma State, T.J. Warren of N.C. State and Zeke Marshall of Akron.

"I tried to bring my offense right out of the gate," Stokes said. "I thank my teammates for getting me the ball. It wasn't just me, though. I felt like I had a physical mismatch for much of the game. I was better tonight bringing the ball to the rim. My mission was to get to the basket. I didn't do that as well in our game against Oklahoma State. It felt like we wore them down as the game went on."

Jesse Morgan led UMass (2-2) with 18 points.

"I thought Tennessee did a nice job of dominating the paint tonight," UMass Derek Kellogg said. "They dominated us on the boards. Stokes, (Jarnell) with 24 points and 12 boards, gave them an inside presence that we struggled to handle on both ends. He did a good job bottling up our drives to the rim."

Chaz Williams had 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists. Terrell Vinson had 10 points and five rebounds.

"I didn't think the number of games we played in the last few days made that much difference," Vinson said. "They had a little size advantage over us and it helped them inside."
