Richmond 64, Wofford 58

  •

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Kendall Anthony scored 24 points and Richmond withstood a late Wofford rally for a 64-58 nonconference victory Tuesday night.

The Spiders (4-1) led by just 26-24 at halftime, but opened the second half on a 10-0 run. Wofford (1-4) slowly chipped away at Richmond's lead, finally cutting it to two points when Karl Cochran hit a 3-pointer to draw the Terriers within 60-58 with 12 seconds left. But no closer.

Anthony got help from teammates Derrick Williams and Darien Brothers. Williams posted a double-double, scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

Cochran led Wofford in scoring with 17 points, including four treys on nine attempts from beyond the arc. Spencer Collins chipped in 13 points for the Terriers and Lee Skinner finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

Richmond had a decisive edge at the foul line, hitting 22 of 28 while Wofford was 10 for 16.
