Georgetown 68, St. John's 56

WASHINGTON (AP) - Nate Lubick scored a career-high 16 points and Georgetown took advantage of an off-day from the Big East's second-leading scorer in a 68-56 win over St. John's on Saturday afternoon.

Lubick, who entered the game shooting 70 percent (23 of 33) from the field over the previous five games, hit 8 of 10 shots and added 10 rebounds as the Hoyas (16-4, 6-3 Big East) won their fourth straight and sixth in seven games.

The Red Storm, meanwhile, shot just 32 percent (20 of 63) from the field, and leading scorer D'Angelo Harrison, who entered the game second in the conference averaging 19.7 points, was limited to two points and missed all nine of his field goal attempts.

JaKarr Sampson had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead St. John's (14-8, 6-4), which could draw no closer than seven in the second half and had its five-game winning streak snapped.

Markel Starks hit four 3-pointers and had 12 points for the Hoyas, while Jabril Trawick had 12 points and Otto Porter added 11 and seven rebounds. Georgetown held a 41-34 rebounding edge, including a 21-9 advantage in the first half, and has held 15 of their 20 opponents to 60 points or fewer.

A 21-8 run by the Hoyas gave them a 24-15 lead with 9:34 remaining in the first half. A short jumper by Nate Lubick extended the advantage to 39-24, their largest lead of the game, with 1:54 to play.

Georgetown took a 39-28 lead into halftime as the Red Storm were unable to get any first-half production outside of Phil Greene VI, who had 10 of his 12 points in the opening half.

The remainder of St. John's players shot just 5 for 20 in the frame, and Harrison missed all six of his field goal attempts.
