Wake Forest vs Florida State

Florida St. 76, Wake Forest 62

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Michael Snaer scored 19 of his game-high 24 points in the second half Tuesday night leading Florida State to a 76-62 win over Wake Forest.

Snaer scored 13 points during a 23-3 run midway through the second half that put the game out of reach for the visitors. Okaro White added 13 points and 7-3 freshman Boris Bojanovsky matched his career best with 10 for the Seminoles, who avenged a 25-point loss to the Demon Deacons just 17 days earlier.

C.J. Harris' lone field goal of the game, a 3-point basket with 15:56 left, pulled Wake Forest to within 44-43 before Snaer ignited the run that gave Florida State a 67-46 lead. Harris was coming off a 23-point effort in the Deacons' 80-65 upset of Miami on Sunday when he was perfect from 3-point distance on five tries.

Snaer didn't miss in the second half, hitting all five field goal tries and eight free throws.

The Seminoles (15-13, 7-8 Atlantic Coast Conference) led 40-34 at halftime while winning for just the second time in their last six games.

Travis McKee led Wake Forest (12-15, 5-10) with 15 points, but was limited to a single free throw in the second half. McKie, the lone Demon Deacon to finish in double figures, kept Wake Forest in the early-going with 14 first-half points.

It was a sweet turnaround for the Seminoles, who were embarrassed at Wake Forest on Feb. 9 when four Demon Deacons were in double figures and they dominated the boards by a 45-25 margin on their way to a 71-46 runaway win.

But this time it was Florida State that owned the boards on both ends of the court.

White led the way with nine rebounds to pace Florida State's 44-21 dominance.

The Seminoles shot 51.9 percent while taking a six-point lead into halftime and dominated the rebounding by an 18-11 margin despite White sitting for nine minutes because of foul difficulty.

Florida State shot 48.9 percent for the game (23 of 47) compared to a chilly 32.7 percent (18 of 55) by the Demon Deacons.

The Seminoles, who have been without leading rebounder Terrance Shannon since mid-January, rank dead last in the ACC in rebounding. The 6-foot-8 Shannon suffered a neck injury at Virginia on Jan. 19 and was just cleared to play although his return remains uncertain.

Shannon went down after appearing to hit his head against the thigh or hip of Virginia's Evan Nolte during a scramble under the Florida State basket. He remained on the floor motionless for nearly 10 minutes while being attended to by medical personnel.

Florida State, which needs at least one more win to finish the regular season with a winning record, visits North Carolina on Sunday while Wake Forest returns home for a Saturday game against Maryland.
