Bethune-Cookman defeats Trinity 98-55


Daytona Beach, Fla. (AP) Allan Dempster scored a career-high 22 points guiding Bethune-Cookman to a commanding 98-55 victory over Trinity on Tuesday night.

Bethune-Cookman (2-2) had four players with double-digit scoring, including a career-high 19 points from Clemmye Owens. Barry Smith, who had only three points in the three previous games combined, finished with 14.

Trailing early on, the Wildcats went on a 20-1 run late in the first period and jumped out to a 47-33 lead heading into the half.

Bethune-Cookman maintained their advantage the entire second half up by as many as 43 points in the game, and The Wildcats snapped their two-game losing streak against the Tigers.

Trinity got into heavy foul trouble early resulting in Bethune-Cookman's 27-for-36 performance from the line. Trinity had only 12 free throw attempts.

Komilous Donnell scored 11 points and Michael Coffey added 10 as the Tigers fall to 4-2 under new head coach Rob Oppedisano.
