NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Matt Kennedy scored 18 points as Charleston Southern set a school record by making 20 3-pointers and overpowered Saint Andrew's 122-40 Saturday night.
All five starters scored as Charleston Southern jumped out to a 15-4 lead just over six minutes into the game. After St. Andrew's trimmed its deficit to five about four minutes later, the Buccaneers used a 32-5 run to blow the game open.
CSU also broke the school record for margin of victory, surpassing the 79-point margin, set against Johnson earlier this season. The previous mark for 3-pointers made was 17.
The Buccaneers (5-6) made 38 of 57 shots (66.7 percent) and converted on 60.6 percent of their 3-point shots. They came into the game averaging better than 10 3-pointers per game, among the best in the nation.
Aaron Smith paced SAU (1-8), which shot 29.8 percent from the floor and committed 22 turnovers, with eight points.
