New Jersey Tech vs UMass Lowell

Bivins double-double lifts Lowell over NJIT 73-64


LOWELL, Mass. (AP) Antonio Bivins had 10 points and 10 rebounds to spark Lowell-Mass to a 73-64 win over New Jersey Institute of Technology on Monday.

Bivins, a senior who was expected to miss the season with an injury, has scored in double figures in all nine games he has played and got his first double-double. Bivins had an off-season Achilles injury.

DJ Mlachnik had 15 points, all on 3-pointers, Chad Holley 13, with eight assists, and Akeem Williams 12 for the River Hawks (7-14). Kerry Weldon also had 10 rebounds as Lowell dominated the boards 48-26, including 20-6 on the offensive end.

Damon Lynn had 23 points and six assists for the Highlanders (9-15). The independent Highlanders had won the first meeting on Dec. 7, 55-44.

Lowell led 40-29 at halftime and pushed the advantage to as many as 19 in the second half. The River Hawks hit 11 of 25 3-pointers.
