Texas-Arlington gets past Texas State 69-62

  •

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Reger Dowell scored 23 points and Texas-Arlington rallied after trailing by eight in the first half in defeating Texas State 69-62 on Saturday night.

Brandon Edwards added 18 points and Lonnie McClanahan notched 13 for TX-Arlington, which has won back-to-back games after dropping their previous three conference contests.

Texas State (7-17, 3-8 Sun Belt) scored the final seven points of the second half carrying a 33-25 lead over UTA (11-13, 6-6) into intermission. But the Mavericks had different plans for the second period.

Edwards scored on a game-tying dunk and Dowell followed with a layup and the Mavericks led Texas State 39-37 five minutes into the second period. The Mavericks fell back by four but got it right back, maintaining the lead into the buzzer.

Wesley Davis led Texas State scorers with 12 points and Joel Wright was the only other Bobcat in double figures with 11 points.
