Kentucky's tournament hopes rely on remaining schedule

By Adena Andrews | CBS Sports

Kentucky might be good at dodgeball, but it's still on the bubble and poised to be one of the first five teams out of the tournament according to CBS Sports Network college basketball analyst Seth Davis.

“Kentucky has a game remaining on the schedule, at Arkansas and then home against Florida. If they can get one of those two wins I think they will be in,” Davis said. “But right now I don't think that Kentucky has done enough.”

On Saturday, Kentucky had a statement 90-83 win against top-50 team Missouri but without big man Nerlens Noel, the Wildcats might not receive the tournament nod they desire.

Both Arkansas and No. 8 Florida, who are in the top 10 in the SEC standings, have won three of their last four games. Kentucky will also face Mississippi State (Feb. 27) and Georgia (March 7).

When Noel went down the Wildcats lost his 10.5 points, 4.4 blocks and 9.5 rebounds per game. However, the supporting cast of freshman duo Willie Cauley-Stein and Alex Poythress have stepped up in the frontcourt. They average a combined 19.9 points per game. Hopefully for reigning NCAA champion Kentucky, that will be enough to get into the tournament.

If not, there's always dodgeball.
