The road to the NCAA tournament is not always a smooth journey, especially considering conference regular-season champions (except from the Ivy League) have not been guaranteed automatic bids to the NCAA tournament since 1975. Instead it's the conference tournament champion who wins the bid, leaving many strong teams on the cutting room floor.
