2007 Men's NCAA Basketball Tournament

75 Years of March Madness (NCAA)

2007 NCAA Tournament | Bracket

Champion: Florida

Most Outstanding Player: Corey Brewer, Florida

Final Four:Kansas, Memphis, North Carolina, UCLA

Shining Moments

  • Florida actually pulls it off: a repeat, the first since Duke in í91-92. And itís a repeat that comes amid plenty of speculation over the Gatorsí gumption down the stretch of the season, as Florida dropped three of its last five regular-season games. Lost in retrospect of this accomplishment: Joakim Noah, Brewer, Al Horford all could have gone pro but returned to school to do just this. How sweet and how rare. The title is also notable because Florida wins a menís hoops and football title in the same year -- the first to accomplish that.
  • Kevin Durantís brilliant but brief college career vaporizes with an 87-68 second-round loss to USC on a Sunday night in Spokane, Wash. He scores 30 and grabs nine in his final college game
  • .
  • Georgetown rallies after trailing big to UNC, ultimately winning 96-84 in overtime to send the Hoyas to their first Final Four since John Thompson, Jr. did it. Thompsonís son, John Thompson III, is the one coaching this team.
  • In one of the most-predicted upsets in recent memory, 11th-seeded VCU beats Duke thanks to Eric Maynor sinking a shot with 1.8 seconds to go in the first round. At the time, itís only Mike Krzyzewskiís second loss to an 11-seed-or-lower in his career.
