E.C. Matthews has a recruiting timeline in the back of his mind, but there is still a long way to go.
The 6-foot-4 guard from Romulus (Mich.) took an official visit to Iowa last weekend, and will unofficially trip to Marquette this weekend. He has seen Xavier and Dayton as well.
However, there are still a number of schools on Matthews' list: Minnesota, Kansas State, UNLV, Marquette, Iowa, Dayton, Xavier, Missouri, Rhode Island, Virginia Tech and Providence.
He would prefer to cut it down to six or seven very soon.
“I want to be committed before November,” Matthews told CBSSports.com. “I'm just taking my time, basically.”
Matthews is ranked No. 62 in CBSSports.com's Top 100.
Marcus Lee trims list to three
Marcus Lee, one of the fastest-rising players over the spring and summer, has made plenty of advancements in his recruitment lately.
He took an unofficial visit to California last week, and also officially tripped to Louisville this past weekend.
On Tuesday night, Lee made a move with his list. He's down to three schools: California, Louisville and Kentucky.
Lee had planned visits to Indiana and Duke, but those plans are now canceled. Kansas and UCLA also were cut from his list.
The 6-foot-9 power forward from Deer Valley (Calif.) is ranked No. 40 at CBSSports.com.
