Five-star junior Leron Black pledges to Baylor

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Writer

Monday was a monster day when it came to commitments from players native to the western part of Tennessee. Robert Hubbs (Tennessee), Chris Jones (Louisville) and Cameron Payne (Murray State) all made pledges – but that wasn't it.

The class of 2014 has been slow to commit, but Leron Black got the ball rolling on Monday evening. The No. 15-ranked player in the country pledged to Baylor.

“I like the way they play, and they're a private school so the academics are there,” Black told CBSSports.com in July. “They're a spiritual school, and I'm a spiritual kid.”

Black, a 6-foot-7 forward from White Station (Tenn.), chose the Bears over Memphis, Ohio State, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and a number of other schools. He's extremely athletic and can run the floor better than most players at his position. He finishes strong around the basket and controls the glass well.

Baylor has done a great job with athletic forwards in recent years, and Black looks to be the next big-time player in Waco.
