Notebook: Marcus Lee, JaJuan Johnson boost recruitment

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Writer

HAMPTON, Va. – Marcus Lee has been one of the biggest names on the spring recruiting circuit this season.

The 6-foot-9 power forward blew up in Minneapolis last weekend, and continued his impressive play at the second EYBL session, in Virginia.

“I have no idea what happened,” Lee said. “I just played hard, just did what I usually do.”

Lee now holds offers from Duke, Kansas, Indiana, Connecticut, North Carolina State, Memphis, Arkansas, Boston College, Louisville and many others – with most of them coming in the past two weeks.

“I'm not paying attention to that,” he said. “I'm just being a kid, focused on having fun.”

JaJuan Johnson boosts stock in Hampton

If Marcus Lee was the breakout player in Minneapolis, JaJuan Johnson might have been the biggest stock-raiser at Boo Williams in Virginia.

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Southwind (Tenn.) is long and athletic, and really knows how to score. He can knock down 3-pointers and also got to the rim off the dribble consistently.

“They want me to play a lot of positions,” Johnson said.

Johnson holds offers from Memphis, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Marquette, Louisville, Texas, Auburn, Arkansas, Wake Forest and Florida. Kentucky and Georgetown are also showing interest.
