Kentan Facey continues to blow up with high-major schools

INDIANAPOLIS – During the spring, Jermaine Lawrence was the New Rens forward that had everyone talking. With Lawrence at a different event, though, rising senior Kentan Facey was the name that kept springing up in the various gyms at the Adidas Invitational.

Facey, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.), drew rave reviews at the LeBron James Skills Academy, and followed it up with more flashes in Indianapolis.

“So far it's been good,” Facey said. “I've been playing better at the camps, and the things I'm learning is transferring into my game.”

Facey has picked up plenty of new offers during the past week, including Memphis, UCLA, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Xavier, USC, Dayton, Virginia Tech, Saint Louis and Duquesne. Florida State, Kansas State, Florida, Connecticut and Providence were early to the party.

That's not all, as Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, Texas and others are showing interest andattended Facey's games last week.

“It's pretty good, it's helped my confidence,” he said. “Major schools are offering me. Makes me think I'm better than I thought I was.”

Facey is still somewhat raw offensively, but he has tremendous length and athleticism. He blocks shots well, and has a great motor. Facey can run the floor as well as anyone with his size, and he knows how to finish at the rim.

Facey said he's wide open in his recruitment, and will start revving up the recruiting process after the July live period.
