As his stock rises, Trevon Blueitt still looks to get better

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. – Trevon Bluiett is rising as quickly as any wing in the class of 2014, due to his size and 3-point shooting ability.

Bluiett, though, is more concerned with improving certain aspects of his game and getting rid of his weaknesses.

“I've been playing pretty well,” he said. “I've been working on my athletic ability, getting shots up. Other players expose my weaknesses, so I go back and work on it. I'm still working on my athleticism. I made a huge jump in the last year, but I'm not there yet.”

Bluiett, a 6-foot-6 prospect from Park Tudor (Ind.), finished the EYBL season ranked No. 11 in scoring, averaging 16.5 points in 20 games. He shot better than 48 percent from 3-point range, and contributed 3.5 rebounds. Bluiett didn't fare as well at the Peach Jam, averaging 10.4 points and 4.0 boards as his Indy Spiece AAU team struggled to a 1-4 record.

Kansas State, Illinois, Northwestern, Florida, Indiana, Purdue, Xavier, Virginia, IUPUI, Butler, Michigan and Louisville are all pursuing Bluiett. Kentucky is also sniffing around, and Bluiett did visit Lexington.

“It was pretty good,” he said. “Coach [John] Calipari wasn't there, but the coaches showed me around campus and then we sat down and talked about style of play and stuff like that.”

Bluiett, the No. 35-ranked prospect in 2014, said Louisville, Xavier, Butler and Florida have shown the most interest.
