Johnny Jones is no stranger to talent. While at North Texas, Jones was still able to attract prospects to the Mean Green – including Tony Mitchell, one of the best returning players in the country.

Since being hired at LSU in April, though, Jones has been quiet on the recruiting trail. Until Thursday night.

That's when top-25 prospect Jordan Mickey committed to the Tigers, as first reported by Scout.com.

Mickey, a 6-foot-7 forward from the newly-opened Prime Prep in Dallas, chose the Tigers over Ohio State, SMU and Oklahoma State. Even with SMU's resurgence in his backyard, the chance to come in and snag playing time right away was too difficult to turn down.

“I like coach Jones,” Mickey told us last week. “I like the offense and the ability to come in and make an immediate impact.”

Mickey is ranked No. 25 in the class of 2013 by CBSSports.com. He is still developing his skillset, but he knows how to make plays both inside and outside. Mickey is a matchup nightmare for many defenders, given his ability to score facing up or off the dribble. On the glass, he is extremely active and aggressive. Mickey can also guard multiple positions.

Jones inherited some decent talent in Baton Rouge, including sophomores Johnny O'Bryant and Anthony Hickey, as well as junior Andre Stringer. There is a solid class coming in this season -- namely Jones recruits Corban Collins and Memphis transfer Charles Carmouche -- but Mickey is a major piece.
