Multiple teams had made Johnathan Williams III a primary target in the class of 2013, meaning there was plenty of suspense as we headed down the home stretch of his recruitment. Williams also played things very close to the vest for much of his decision-making process.

Georgetown, Missouri and Tennessee made strong pitches, but Michigan State got the last word when Williams took his visit to East Lansing in late September. As many as three teams thought they had a good chance at landing Williams. He even added George Mason at the last second.

Only one team could get his commitment, though. On Thursday evening, Williams announced he was heading to Missouri.

"It's a great basketball program, good academically and just a good school," Williams said before picking up a Missouri hat.

Williams, a 6-foot-8 power forward from Southwind (Tenn.), is a skilled prospect who can do a variety of things on the court. He's a left-handed matchup problem, as Williams knows how to attack off the dribble or play with his back to the basket. He has a high motor and can push the ball in transition. Moreover, Williams is a good rebounder and finisher inside. During 19 games in the EYBL regular season, Williams averaged 10.3 points, 6.1 rebounds and better than two blocks per game.

Williams is ranked No. 25 in the class of 2013 by CBSSports.com. He is the younger brother of current George Mason forward Johnny Williams.

Missouri now has three commitments, with Williams III joining four-star point guard Wesley Clark and local product Travis Jorgenson.
