Another one for Marquette: Four-star scoring wing JaJuan Johnson commits

By Jeff Borzello | College Basketball Writer

While at Marquette, Buzz Williams has made a living getting under-the-radar prospects and turning them into stars by the time they leave the Golden Eagles. It looks like he'll have to change his ways starting next fall.

On Friday, Williams picked up his third top-100 prospect in the class of 2013, as scoring wing JaJuan Johnson pledged to Marquette.

“We had some great schools and great relationships with schools,” Frashanda Williams, Johnson's mother, told ESPN.com. “Eventually we had to tell someone no.”

Johnson chose the Golden Eagles over Alabama and Miami (Fla.). It seemed like Alabama and Texas were the leaders for much of the summer, but the Longhorns and Johnson parted ways days before an official visit. Then Marquette made up plenty of ground during Johnson's official visit to campus.

The 6-foot-5 scorer from Southwind High (Memphis, Tenn.) is ranked No. 68 in our top 100. He broke out during the spring at the Boo Williams EYBL session, showing a diverse offensive skill set. Johnson is long and athletic and can knock down 3-pointers consistently. He also gets to the rim off the bounce.

Marquette is quietly positioning itself very nicely in the class of 2013 rankings. The Golden Eagles now have pledges from Johnson (No. 68), Duane Wilson (No. 50) and Deonte Burton (No. 51), as well as Jameel McKay, who might be one of the top five players in the junior college ranks.
