Memorable Moment No. 3: Webber forgot, but we never will

C-Webb: Timeout ... No, wait!
A couple of years ago, I forgot my mom's birthday. It was terrible. But I bought her a present, took her to dinner and everything was fine.
A couple of weeks ago, I forgot to make a car payment. It was awful. But I called the company, gave them my checking account number and everything was fine.

My point?
I forget stuff all the time.
But at least I'm not Chris Webber!
"I just called the timeout," Webber told reporters after he, well, called the timeout, "and that probably cost us the game."
When I started this list of the Top Five Most Memorable Moments in NCAA Tournament History there were a couple of automatics, just no-brainers that immediately popped into my head. This was one of them -- this being Webber's mental breakdown in the closing seconds of the 1993 NCAA Tournament title game between Michigan's Fab Five and North Carolina.

Webber reportedly yelled to the Tar Heels "Ya'll are going to lose this game" when he came out for pregame warmups, displaying a confidence that had been building since the moment he and his classmates arrived on campus and almost immediately became stars, thanks to the long shorts and the swagger and -- this was the most important part, to be clear -- the big-time winning.
The Fab Five made the title game as freshmen, but lost to Duke.
Now they were back as sophomores.
And they weren't losing again.
Webber promised.
