Don't leave us, VCU -- not when we still need you so
"I'm proud to be their coach," said Grant.
This is why they were so fun. There was no pretense. Unless there is something dark and hidden from view, this was not a team of thugs and punks. Unless we are all being seriously fooled, Grant did not build the Rams using cash handouts and manipulated transcripts.
The Rams, it seems, are simply a great sports story, nicely uncorrupted and thankfully not incorrigible.
For once it is nice to actually watch sports without having to shower afterward, or hear stories about weapons possession or third-degree assault or turdwatch.
It was just good basketball players, playing the game hard, and playing the game well, a little guy scaring the hell out of another superpower.
Thus I leave lovely, frigid Buffalo knowing I watched without question the best regional of them all this year. There were no boring games or hefty blowouts. There was VCU, giant killer and audience thriller.
The other teams are nice stories and deserve to move on.
But there has been nothing so far like VCU.
You can't quit them either, can you?
