Jeff Green will remain in the NBA Draft, he and Georgetown confirmed Monday afternoon.
"He decided for sure this morning," a source said. "The coaches already know."
Though a setback to Georgetown's national title hopes, Green's decision is no surprise. He's long been considered a sure-bet lottery pick, and the only shock would've been had he delayed guaranteed millions to spend his senior year in college.
Green, a 6-foot-9 forward, led Georgetown in scoring (14.3 points) and averaged 6.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists, helping the Hoyas reach the Final Four for the first time in 22 years.
But don't feel sorry for them.
Every other relevant player from last season's 30-7 team is set to return, including All-American candidate Roy Hibbert. Combined with a stellar recruiting class, the veterans should help Georgetown challenge Louisville, Marquette and Villanova for the Big East title, and the Hoyas will likely appear in the top 10 of most preseason rankings.
