Stay in school or make it past tense? Here's advice for guys on fence

By | CBSSports.com Senior Writer

Marreese Speights gave his final answer Thursday.

He will indeed remain in the NBA Draft.

So that's another down.

Just 20 more to go!

Seriously, you might spend this weekend at the pool or on the course or in the garden relaxing and enjoying life. Any of the three are reasonable options. I hope you have fun. Meantime, Roy Williams, Mark Gottfried, Mike Montgomery and various other coaches will be holding their breath, waiting it out, wondering whether their on-the-fence draft hopefuls are coming or going, and it must be really tough on the nerves. I mean, what we have here are a bunch of grown men at the mercy of college kids with decisions to make, and a "wrong" decision by the kid could cost the coach a national title or a conference title or his job in general, if things go really poorly.

So what's gonna happen Monday?

Nobody can say for sure.

But I can tell you what should happen, and I'll break it into three categories:

1. Guys who should obviously return to school

2. Guys who should obviously stay in the draft

3. Guys with tough decisions to make

The first category is simple. Here are the guys who should obviously return to school because they probably aren't first-round picks:

 A.J. Abrams (Texas)
 Lee Cummard (BYU)
 Robert Dozier (Memphis)
 Danny Green (North Carolina)
George Hill (IUPUI) (Editor's note: On Saturday, Hill said he's staying in the draft)
 Jeremy Pargo (Gonzaga)
 Ron Steele (Alabama)
 Robert Vaden (UAB)
