Arkansas junior Patrick Beverley, a shooting guard who was expected to be the team's best player, will miss the entire season for academic reasons, a source has told CBSSports.com.
The university made an official announcement Friday night without providing details. The news release said, "Junior guard Patrick Beverley will not compete for the Razorbacks in the 2008-09 basketball season."
Beverley, a junior, averaged 12.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Razorbacks last season.
