Blue Devils, Bruins, Wolverines, Salukis highlight Coaches vs. Cancer field

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Duke, UCLA, Michigan and Southern Illinois will serve as the regional hosts for the 2K Sports Classic benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

 

The winners of the four four-team tournaments advance to the semifinals and finals at New York's Madison Square Garden on Nov. 20-21.

The pairings for the regional rounds, which will be held Nov. 10-13, were announced Thursday.

At the Durham, N.C. regional on Nov. 10, Georgia Southern will play Houston and Presbyterian faces Duke. The winners will meet the next day.

The Carbondale, Ill. regional will begin Nov. 11 with Arkansas-Monticello playing Massachusetts and California, Pa. meeting Southern Illinois. The winners meet Nov. 12.

At Ann Arbor, Mich., IUPUI plays Northeastern and Michigan Tech faces Michigan on Nov. 11 with the winners playing the next day.

The Los Angeles regional starts Nov. 12 with Weber State meeting Miami, Ohio and Prairie View A&M playing UCLA, which has reached the NCAA tournament's Final Four the last three years. The winners play on Nov. 13.

Division II teams -- Arkansas-Monticello, California (Pa.) and Michigan Tech -- and Presbyterian, which joined D-I last season, are in the field.

A total of 10 games in the tournament will be televised nationally, including the four in New York.

Last year, Memphis beat Connecticut 81-70 in the championship game with the Tigers going on to reach the NCAA tournament title game.

Coaches vs. Cancer is a collaboration between the American Cancer Society and National Association of Basketball Coaches. Since 1996, the tournament has raised more than $4 million for the benefit of Coaches vs. Cancer.
