Young's 18 lead Pitt past La Roche in exhibition rout

PITTSBURGH -- Sam Young had 18 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots, and No. 5 Pittsburgh cruised to an 82-30 victory over La Roche College in its second and final preseason game Sunday.

Tyrell Biggs added 11 points while making all five of his field-goal attempts and Jermaine Dixon had 11 points, seven assists and five steals for the Panthers, who open their season Friday against Fairleigh Dickinson.

The 30 points by La Roche were the fewest by an opposing team in the 27 seasons Pitt has played exhibition games.

Pitt led 37-14 at the half, then scored the first 13 points of the second half to open a 50-14 lead. All 12 Pitt players who were in uniform scored.
