BERKELEY, Calif. -- Hall of Fame basketball coach Pete Newell will be remembered at several ceremonies over the next few weeks.
A funeral mass for the former California coach who died Monday at the age of 93 is scheduled for Monday in Rancho Santa Fe.
A tribute to Newell at the University of California, where he won an NCAA championship in 1959, is set for Dec. 3 before California's game against DePaul University.
Newell's alma mater, Loyola Marymount University, is also remembering the late coach with a memorial service Dec. 15.
In addition to his NCAA title, Newell coached the U.S. to an Olympic gold medal in 1960 and tutored some of the game's greatest big men.
