Michigan's Cronin will miss rest of season with hip injury

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan freshman center Ben Cronin will undergo surgery on his left hip and miss the rest of the season.

The school said Tuesday that the surgery is set for Jan. 14 at the University of Michigan Medical Center. Cronin is expected to be out five to six months during recovery and rehabilitation.

He missed most of the preseason because of the hip injury and has played in only two games for the 24th-ranked Wolverines.
