Projecting the Field: Preseason edition

Parrish's projections: Kansas and Kentucky

Preseason Projections

Like with most preseason brackets, you can expect a lot of changes between now and March. But here is something to get you ready for the season: There is no doubt that I took a few fliers in here. What fun is a preseason bracket without those.

The overall No. 1 seed in this bracket is Kansas. That isn't one of the fliers. Michigan St, the No. 2 overall seed, is bracketed with the play-in game because it is the highest seed playing on a Friday.

Looks like the Pac 10 may suffer a similar fate as the SEC did last year. I only have three Pac 10 teams in this bracket, although they are higher seeded than the SEC teams from last year.

The SEC should rebound and have a much better year with all the young talent returning, along with John Calipari's apparent instantaneous rebuilding of Kentucky.

There are 2 things I liked about Palm's predictions as oppoed to Gary's (could have been more, but let's face it, as a UK homer I didn't exactly check the whole bracket).

1) UK as a 2 seed.  Sure it might make some of our fans mad, but this is a REALISTIC expectation for a team filled with young talent and solid veterans.  If we stumble in some of our early challenges (UNC, UC

Preseason Top 25 is one thing, but to think you know who the NCAA tournament teams will be, lol, that's quite another.

This is way worse than anything Parrish has been putting out.

Sorry to tell you Palm, but you are wasting your time. Save the prognostications for after the season starts.

How can you have them projected to be a 9 seed?  They will go at worst 12-2 in out of conference and 10-6 in ACC play for an overall record of 22-8,  then the ACC tournament.  Their is zero chance they are anything less then a 6 seed.

In Palm's projections in the USA Today College Basketball Sports Weekly he has diff teams in a seeded diff too....

Cincy unseeded before, but now as a 6 seed.  Lance Stephenson?

Maryland as a 5 seed and now as a 10 seed.

San Diego State not in and now as a 12 seed.  Guess they really were the last 4 in.

Richmond and Notre were 11 seeds

Wow, way to think about that one big guy. I don't really get your logic at all on that one. The fact that you would put Georgetown as a 3 seed and Louisville as a 6 seed is just utterly embarrassing on your part. It just amazes me that you get paid to make a bracket this bad. I saw so many teams that were so bad i could barely watch them last year. Don't worry Palm, i'm embarrassed for you.

all of these projections have BYU at such low seeds and rankings. why is that? we've been a solid team the past few years, in and out of the top twenty five and with decent tourney seeds. we're loaded this year with almost everyone coming back. BYU will dominate the mountain west conference this year and cruise through most of their schedule. BYU will be a top 25 team by the end of the regular sea ...(more)
