Wooden Award winners
The Wooden Award, presented annually to the outstanding collegiate basketball Player of the Year, was founded by The Los Angeles Athletic Club in 1976.
Over 1,000 voters select the player of the year and all-american team members each year. Voters are sportswriters and sportscasters who collectively represent each of the 50 states, with the number of voters from each state being dependent on the state's population.
A 26-person blue ribbon national advisory board selects the ballot of approximately 20 candidates for the player of the year and all-american team honors. Candidates must be full time students with a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or higher throughout their college career. Outstanding contributions to team play and citizenship are mandatory for selection as well.
