LSU assistant Richard to take over at Louisiana-Monroe
Two people familiar with the hiring say LSU assistant Keith Richard will be the next head coach at Louisiana-Monroe.
Richard, a former ULM player, was expected to be introduced at a press conference at 2 p.m. on Thursday. The people who told the Associated Press about the hiring spoke on condition of anonymity because an official announcement had not been made.
Richard takes over for Orlando Early, who resigned this month after five seasons to become an assistant at South Carolina.
It will be the second head coaching job for the 50-year-old Richard, who also coached Louisiana Tech from 1999 to 2007. Richard played at ULM from 1978-82, and in his last season helped the school to its first NCAA tournament appearance.
