WVU 'nonentity' Jennings leaves court during game wire reports

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Backup forward Danny Jennings walked away from the bench during No. 21 West Virginia's 56-46 victory against South Florida and coach Bob Huggins called his absence "unexcused."

Jennings suited up for Sunday's game but didn't play. He left the bench in the second half.

When asked about the little-used Jennings, Huggins said the player's exit was "unexcused, inexcusable. Never to be seen again, I guess."

The 6-foot-8 sophomore from Staten Island is averaging 2.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 14 games this season, including four starts.

Jennings' absence would leave West Virginia with only nine scholarship players.

Huggins tried to sidestep further questions about whether Jennings was off the team.

"I understand that you have to report it and that's fine, but can we talk about the guys that play?" Huggins said. "Because he didn't play anyways and hasn't played. The truth of the matter is that he's been a nonentity. We started him to try and get some other guys motivated and he did work hard in practice for a while, but look at his career stats."
