Ten threats to Coach K's wins record

  •

NEW YORK -- Dick Vitale tweeted Sunday about Mike Krzyzewski.

"Never ever," he typed, "will we see this happen again in hoops."

Let the record show that I agree.

Mike Krzyzewski became the winningest coach in Division I men's basketball history late Tuesday thanks to a rare combination of excellence, consistency and longevity, and it's hard to imagine anybody ever catching him because he'll probably eclipse 1,000 victories before he retires and put the record out of reach.

That said, here's a list of 10 possible threats:

(Coaches listed in alphabetical order.)

Jim Boeheim (Syracuse) -- Age: 66 Wins: 858

Jim Calhoun (Connecticut) -- Age: 69 Wins: 854

Jamie Dixon (Pittsburgh) -- Age: 46 Wins: 218

Billy Donovan (Florida) -- Age: 46 Wins: 396

Bob Huggins (West Virginia) -- Age: 58 Wins: 692

Josh Pastner (Memphis) -- Age: 34 Wins: 50

Bill Self (Kansas) -- Age: 48 Wins: 444

Shaka Smart (VCU) -- Age: 34 Wins: 56

Brad Stevens (Butler) -- Age: 35 Wins: 117

Roy Williams (North Carolina) -- Age: 61 Wins: 645
