Tar Heels' Henson sits out ACC semifinal matchup against N.C. State
ATLANTA -- North Carolina forward John Henson is not playing in the Atlantic Coast Conference semifinals because of an injured left wrist.
The ACC's Defensive Player of the Year sat on the bench Saturday wearing a suit and a brace on his ailing wrist while the fourth-ranked Tar Heels took on North Carolina State. Freshman James Michael McAdoo took his place in the starting lineup.
Henson was injured Friday against Maryland when he landed on his wrist after being fouled on a drive to the basket. X-rays showed no break and he returned to the game, but he lasted less than a minute before leaving the court for good.
Henson is averaging 13.8 points a game and leads the Tar Heels in rebounding at 10.1 per game.
