Picture this: You're part of the NCAA men's basketball selection committee. You've narrowed down and selected all 68 participants of the NCAA Tournament.
Now all you have to do is determine where all these teams will go.
In the first edition of CBSSports.com's blind test, we offered unidentified resumes of two teams vying for at-large bids in the NCAA Tournament. For this second installment of the series, we give you a pair of undisclosed squads which are both projected to be in the field of 68 in Jerry Palm's latest bracket prediction.
This time, however, we want you to select which team you think deserves a higher seed.
RPI is a formula used to rank teams, emphasizing wins, losses and strength of schedule.
For further reference, Team A's conference record is 9-4, while Team B's is 9-5. Adding to the intrigue of this comparison, both of these teams squared off earlier in the season, with Team A earning a double-digit victory at a neutral site. Will Team A emerge as the winner once again?
Record: Indicates the team's overall record this season.
SOS Rank: Indicates a ranking of the team's strength of schedule this season. This is compiled by generating the average winning percentage of opponents the team has faced this season. That figure is then ranked out of the 347 Division I teams.
Record vs. Top 50 RPI: Indicates the team's record against opponents ranked in the Top 50 in RPI.
Record vs. 51-100 RPI: Indicates the team's record against opponents ranked 51-100 in RPI.
Record vs. 101-200 RPI: Indicates the team's record against opponents ranked 101-200 in RPI.
Record vs. 201-plus RPI: Indicates the team's record against opponents ranked 201 and greater in RPI.
